Missions
World
missions is at the heart of VCAC. Whether
their work is long term or short term, we are
committed to the support of missionaries
around the globe. As stated elsewhere,
VCAC is associated with the Christian and
Missionary Alliance, which is an alliance
of evangelical believers, joined together
in local churches, committed to following
the Great Commission, as given to us by
our Lord Jesus Christ:
"Therefore go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them
in the name of the Father and of the Son
and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them
to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always, to the
very end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20,
NIV) As our
name implies, we are Christian because we
believe and follow Jesus Christ as Saviour
and Lord. We are missionary because we are
committed to reaching unreached people
with the good news of Jesus Christ. The
mission statement for the C&MA reads,
"The Christian and Missionary Alliance is
committed to world missions, stressing the
fullness of Christ and preaching the
gospel to the ends of the earth." Since
the beginning in 1887, the Alliance has
grown to a worldwide constituency of over
2.5 million including the United States
and Canada. The C&MA now has
ministries in 56 countries and territories
around the world.
